Chris Chadburn
Chris has specialised in tax investigation work for the
last 30 years. He started his career in the Inland Revenue
and was a district inspector in East London region before
joining Moores Rowland in 1985. He was a partner
in their London office heading their national tax investigation
group until he joined Baker Tilly in1998. There he was
the partner responsible for tax investigations in London
and the South East until he left in the Spring of 2003
to set up his own consultancy.
Chris specialises in assisting individuals and omb's
who are under investigation, particularly where Special
Compliance Office are involved. He is a frequent presenter
and writer on tax investigations. |

Paul Gee
Paul graduated in Economics and Accounting at the University
of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He is a Fellow of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales.
He has worked in the accountancy profession, in both
medium and large professional practices, in accountancy
tuition at Chart Foulks Lynch and in higher education,
where he was Principal Lecturer at Bristol Business
School, University of the West of England.
Paul joined Solomon Hare, Bristol in 1989, where he
is currently Technical Director with responsibility
for
both technical and training matters.He is author of
Spicer and Pegler’s Book-keeping and Accounts and co-author
of Financial Reporting for Smaller Companies.
For over 11 years, Paul was General Editor of Butterworths
Financial Reporting and Accounting Service.

Gerry Hart CTA (Fellow) ATT
Gerry is an experienced Chartered Tax Adviser who currently
provides technical tax support to other professional
advisers such as accountants and solicitors.
He is also a prolific lecturer on a variety of tax
subjects, with an enthusiastic style ensuring that delegates
get the most out of the presentation.
Over the years he has created and developed several
tax practices, including The Tax Team which he formed
in 1994 and sold to H & R Block in 1997; he was
then Head of UK Operations for nearly five years.
Gerry created the UK Tax Congress, an annual event
held at Wembley Conference Centre in the 1980's.
He was the 1995/96 National President of the Chartered
Institute of Taxation and founder chairman of the Sussex
Branch.

Martyn Ingles (BSc FCA ATII)
Martin qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982
and has specialised in taxation ever since. He became
an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation
in 1983 whilst working for Arthur Andersen in London.
Martyn worked for The Financial Training Company Ltd
for ten years lecturing in taxation and other accounting
subjects to students preparing for their accountancy
and taxation examinations, as well as on CPE and CPD
courses.
On his return to professional practice in January 1997
Martyn joined Horwath Clark Whitehill, becoming a partner
in October 1998. His main area of interest is tax planning
for the family business, in particular tax efficient
remuneration, exit planning and restructuring. He has
also been involved in advising overseas investors on
the taxation implications of setting up a business in
the UK, and UK companies setting up abroad. Martyn joined
MacIntyre Hudson in April 2000 where he continues to
be involved in the provision of taxation training for
accountants and lawyers and is a regular speaker on
taxation courses.
A member of the ICAEW Tax Faculty committee and its
Vice Chairman, Martyn has also had articles published
in the Tax Faculty TaxLine Technical Review and in “Taxation”
magazine. He is also involved in the production of tax
training videos for Legal Network Television Ltd as
part of his work with the College of Law.

Robert Jamieson MA FCA CTA (Fellow)
Educated at Fettes and Pembroke College, Cambridge
where he studied Moral Sciences, Robert joined Cooper
Brothers & Co and qualified as a Chartered Accountant
in 1972. He then moved to Financial Training where he
ran their specialist tax course and tax consultancy
divisions. He passed the ATII examination in 1979 and
received his FTII in 1984 for a thesis on family companies.
After 20 years with Financial Training, Robert decided
to return to full-time practice and became a partner
in Adam Broke & Co in 1992. Adam Broke & Co
merged with Mercer & Hole on 1 October 2001.
Outside his work, Robert joined the Council of The
Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1993 and became their
President in May 1999. In addition, he is on the Editorial
Board of the weekly magazine “Taxation”.
He contributed to Sweet & Maxwell’s “Transactions:
Group Company Structures” and Tolley’s “Tax on Transactions”
and he has written a Tax Digest for Accountancy Books
on “Close Company Problems”. He was also one of the
original Series Editors for Croner’s Tax Handbooks.

Chris Jones BA CTA (Fellow) ATT
Chris is Director of Tax Training at LexisNexis Tolley.
Chris is also a co-founder of Online Tutors the company
that designed and produced the first audio-visual tax
learning product. LexisNexis liked the product so much
they launched it to the professional market last year
as “Tolley’s Tax Tutor.”
Chris continues to lecture extensively to a whole range
of audiences, from local societies to large training-providers
and major firms of accountants. Chris has gained an
excellent reputation as being among the best in his
field.
Chris has throughout this time continued his practice
work and advises a range of clients on many tax planning
and compliance issues. He is currently a partner in
a firm on the South Coast. Chris regularly draws on
this experience when lecturing to fellow professionals.

Francesca Lagerberg
Francesca is the National Tax Director
at Smith & Williamson and is responsible for technical
support.
Francesca was formerly senior consultant
to the Tax Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England & Wales (ICAEW) where she assisted in
its representational work and helped launch and co-edit
its website and produce its monthly newsletter - TAXline.
She has written and lectured on
a wide-range of tax subjects and is co-editor of the
annual TAXline Tax Planning publication. Other publications
include a Tolley's Tax Digest on IR35 and contributions
to Tolley's Professional Partnership Handbook.
Francesca worked for a number of
years on Taxation magazine and is still on its editorial
board. She is Deputy Chairman of the Tax Faculty of
the ICAEW and a member of the Personal Tax Committee
of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. She writes regularly
for the professional press and national newspapers.
Francesca is a director of Smith
& Williamson Limited and is also a qualified barrister
and chartered accountant. |

Steve McAlpine
Steve is a Chartered Accountant with considerable practical
and training experience.
He has been responsible for accountancy training to
a variety of organisations, including open courses;
ranging from small businesses to major quoted companies.
Steve had almost ten years experience as training manager
in two medium size firms of Chartered Accountants before
becoming a freelance trainer.
As a complement to his training commitments, Steve
runs a small audit and accountancy practice. The clients
are generally owner managed, and Steve provides them
all the routine
professional services they require from an accountant. |

John Selwood
John is a chartered accountant
and a partner in Reeves and Neylan.
In addition to managing and building
a busy portfolio, John lectures on auditing, financial
reporting and practice management and development.
He also prepares technical material

Stephanie Smith
Stephanie is Audit and Investment
Business Compliance partner for MacIntyre Hudson and
is also the firm's technical partner.
She lectures on auditing, including
Audit Regulations matters, company law and professional
ethics. She also teaches financial management, and understanding
and interpreting accounts to a number of law firms and
is an accredited lecturer with the College of Law.
Her other specialisations include
Money Laundering and fraud issues, avoiding professional
indemnity insurance claims in accounts and audit work,
accounting for employee share schemes and charities.
She continues to be involved in
dealing with contentious audit and accounting issues
for the practice and is a member of the Technical and
Practical Auditing Committee of the ICAEW. |

Mike Thexton MA FCA CTA
Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 and
as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1984, and has been training
accountants since that time.
He presents general tax updates for practitioners and
accountants in industry throughout the UK, as well as
more detailed courses on CGT for stockbrokers and VAT
for general practitioners/VAT specialists.
He runs the ATII programme for VAT specialists for
a large firm. Mike also writes on a variety of tax topics
in the professional press. |

Mike Truman LLB FCA CTA (Fellow) MSFA
Mike is currently the editor of Taxation magazine which
is published by LexisNexis Tolley. Prior to this appointment
in 2004 he was a tax consultant and independent financial
adviser. He has lectured and written on many taxation
subjects since 1991 and brings a wealth of practical
experience to his speaking engagements.
Mike became a fellow of The Chartered Institute of
Taxation in 1996 with his prize-winning thesis entitled
“Residence, 150 Years of Misinterpretation.”
Mike’s published works include the Small Business Adviser’s
Toolkit – Taxation, Taxbriefs Holistic Financial Planning
manual, Tax partner Digest and Teach Yourself Basic
Accounting.
Mike has appeared on the video-based training programme
for accountants The Accountancy Channel since 1994 and
was an expert contributor to Meridian Television’s programme
Quids In. |

Dean Wootten, CTA, FCA
Dean has been involved in tax training since 1994 and
lectures on a wide variety of tax matters.
Dean started his career as a Chartered Accountant,
qualifying in 1988 and then as an Associate of the Institute
of Taxation in 1991.
After qualifying Dean spent a number of years in practice
that included over five years at partner level. The
experience gained whilst in practice enables Dean to
focus his lecturing on the practical aspects of the
issues presented.
Together with Chris Jones, Dean was a founder director
of Online Tutors Limited, a company specialising in
providing high-level tax training via the internet and
CD-ROM. The company is responsible for the tax and accounting
update service at http://www.cchseminars.com/
and Tolley’s Tax Tutor.
For the past seven years Dean has concentrated on tax
training in the CPE and student market. In addition
to lecturing on a wide range of CPE courses, Dean teaches
ATT students and CTA students for the General Practice,
Corporate Specialist and VAT routes.
In 2002, Dean set up ATC Tax Training in London with Chris
Jones and Steve Sanders to provide quality CPE and student
tuition. This business has now become Tolley Tax Training.

| Jim
Yuill
Jim is one of the UK's leading consultants on National
Insurance and is currently running his own consultancy
and advisory service, The Yuill Consultancy.
Jim was a Director of the Social Security Services based
in the London office of Ernst & Young.
He was responsible for advising international companies
on their worldwide social security responsibilities
as well as for keeping a close eye on current UK developments.
Previously he spent over 20 years in the DSS and helped
shape the current NIC system.
